The City of Richfield
has supported and operated Wood Lake Nature Center since 1971. In
1991, recognizing the need to keep this very special community gathering place operating efficiently, Friends
of Wood Lake (FOWL) was formed as an advocacy and fundraising group.
Friends of Wood Lake's contributions support the center's environmental education programs,
facility upgrades, and unforeseen problems that can exceed the City’s budget.
